Team appointed at Holiday Inn Express in St Albans

7 July 2016

Sixteen jobs have been created ahead of the official summer opening of the new £10 million Holiday Inn Express in St Albans.

Following a local recruitment drive, led by recently appointed general manager, Will Glenn and new deputy general manager, Beth Johns, guest services, night and breakfast team positions have now been filled at the property in London Colney Fields Shopping Park.

Will Glenn, who was previously general manager at Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham before taking over at the helm of the new property, said: “We set out to create a strong team, equipped to compete with the best venues in the area, and, I’m pleased to say, that’s exactly what we’ve achieved.

“We’re proud to be creating jobs for people seeking to forge a career in hospitality and we believe we have brought the best local talent on board, with 10 of our 16 new recruits joining us through the hotel’s partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions for St Albans.”

“From front of house and housekeeping to waiting and maintenance, we are hoping to create a true hub of hospitality here in Holiday Inn Express St Albans and we can’t wait to open our doors to customers later this summer.”

The multi-million pound investment in the new hotel – managed by the UK’s largest independent hotel management company, Redefine|BDL Hotels – will see the creation of 86 bedrooms and meeting facilities as well as a bar and restaurant.

It has been designed around the recently launched Holiday Inn Express Generation 4 – or Next Generation – concept, which has been developed in conjunction with industry experts in order to meet the needs of today’s ‘smart travellers’.

Each en-suite bedroom will be adaptable to suit either business or leisure guests, with a choice of pillows; a comfortable bed with a noise-reducing headboard; a Smart television enabling visitors to stream their own media; and moveable work desk. Multiple bedside USB ports will ensure guests can stay connected.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a new Express Cafe & Bar offering simple, honest food done well, with Express Start breakfasts that can be enjoyed in-hotel or ‘to go’ included in each stay.
